HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS TEAM UP WITH RISING STAR SIIICKBRAIN FOR NEW VERSION OF“OHIO IS FOR LOVERS”

September 17, 2021 – Dayton, OH – Rock band Hawthorne Heights have teamed up with rising experimental artist Siiickbrain for a re-worked version of “Ohio Is For Lovers.” Today’s release takes listeners through a darker side of the iconic track and is paired with a horror-inspired music video co-directed by Siiickbrain. “This collaboration means so much to me for so many reasons. A few years ago I was listening and singing ‘Ohio Is For Lovers’ in the car and discovered for the first time that I could scream,” Siiickbrain shares. “Ever since then, Hawthorne Heights has been a huge part of the music that I create and a tremendous influence to me. The concept of the music video was heavily influenced by my love for horror films. I wanted to portray a dark, distorted take on the original song, and how sometimes you feel like you can’t live without someone.” Hawthorne Heights’ frontman JT Woodruff shares “It’s a truly treasured experience when you get to step into someone else’s world, as they step into yours. When approached by Siiickbrain, I was flattered that a younger generation of artists had even heard of us, and to work together was divine madness. I’ve never thought of my music as having a dark side, so it’s super wild to see and hear it like this” Fans can stream “Ohio Is For Lovers” and watch the new music video today at https://smarturl.it/HH_SIIICKBRAIN_OHIO. Last week, Hawthorne Heights released their eighth studio album The Rain Just Follows Me. Available to stream digitally via Pure Noise Records, the 11 tracks on this record stand as some of Woodruff’s most resonant writings to date, as he unravels themes of both physical and emotional distance from his wife and daughter in Ohio, as well as personal identity as the frontman of as one of the most iconic emo acts of the new millennium. Most of all, today’s release is quintessentially Hawthorne Heights. It’s who they’ve always been – they just needed to push down the heartache and strife long enough to rediscover those intangible characteristics. Fans can stream The Rain Just Follows Me at https://smarturl.it/hawthorneheightsoh and will also be released in stores with limited edition vinyl variants on October 22, 2021. Hawthorne Heights are currently on the road with Bayside, Senses Fail and The Bombpops on the 21 Years of Bad Luck Tour. Additionally, if fans pre-order The Rain Just Follows Me from a handful of record stores, they will be able to attend an exclusive acoustic performance and signing while the band is on the road. About Hawthorne Heights Hawthorne Heights is composed of JT Woodruff (Vocals, Guitar), Mark McMillon (Guitar, Backing Vocals), Matt Ridenour (Bass, Backing Vocals), Chris Popadak (Drums). Throughout their long and storied career as one of the most iconic emo acts of the new millennium, the quartet have overcome obstacles at every turn – but these roadblocks always seemed to come from external forces, from unscrupulous record labels and the shifting whims of fickle audiences to unimaginable personal tragedy threatening to derail them. Despite the odds, Hawthorne Heights have overcome it all: earning two Gold albums (2004’s The Silence In Black And White and 2006’s If Only You Were Lonely), penning some of the genre’s most well-known songs (“Ohio Is For Lovers,” “Saying Sorry”), and remaining a hard-touring act nearly two decades after forming in Dayton, Ohio. She grew up in a rural town and was always drawn to music but was afraid to dive in fully. While establishing herself as a highly desired model in New York City, Caroline started writing poetry as a means to cope with her own anxiety and personal demons. After moving to Los Angeles, Caroline was hit with a very close personal loss. “I really was hit with the reality that life is too fragile. I want to do what makes me happy and realized that I had nothing to lose by taking this leap. I just want to reach people and help them feel empowered to be themselves.” Most recently, Siiickbrain joined Skrillex and Swae Lee on their propulsive track “Too Bizarre.” She made her directorial debut with the music video for “Silence” and teamed up with incomparable Russian protest art collective Pussy Riot to unleash an electrifying anthem “POWER”, which drives home the idea that women can take back any power that was ever taken from them. Inspired by her favorite movie Fight Club, the music video showcases an all-female cast of bright, young rising stars like phem, Chloe Chaidez and more fighting it out, highlighting the raw power of women. The video was directed and produced by Andrew Sandler and part of the team behind Machine Gun Kelly's Downfalls High, which Siiickbrain appeared in.
