HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS TEAM UP WITH RISING STAR SIIICKBRAIN FOR NEW VERSION OF“OHIO IS FOR LOVERS”
September 17, 2021 – Dayton, OH – Rock band Hawthorne Heights have teamed up with rising experimental artist Siiickbrain for a re-worked version of “Ohio Is For Lovers.” Today’s release takes listeners through a darker side of the iconic track and is paired with a horror-inspired music video co-directed by Siiickbrain. “This collaboration means so much to me for so many reasons. A few years ago I was listening and singing ‘Ohio Is For Lovers’ in the car and discovered for the first time that I could scream,” Siiickbrain shares. “Ever since then, Hawthorne Heights has been a huge part of the music that I create and a tremendous influence to me. The concept of the music video was heavily influenced by my love for horror films. I wanted to portray a dark, distorted take on the original song, and how sometimes you feel like you can’t live without someone.” Hawthorne Heights’ frontman JT Woodruff shares “It’s a truly treasured experience when you get to step into someone else’s world, as they step into yours. She grew up in a rural town and was always drawn to music but was afraid to dive in fully. While establishing herself as a highly desired model in New York City, Caroline started writing poetry as a means to cope with her own anxiety and personal demons. After moving to Los Angeles, Caroline was hit with a very close personal loss. “I really was hit with the reality that life is too fragile. I want to do what makes me happy and realized that I had nothing to lose by taking this leap. I just want to reach people and help them feel empowered to be themselves.” Most recently, Siiickbrain joined Skrillex and Swae Lee on their propulsive track “Too Bizarre.” She made her directorial debut with the music video for “Silence” and teamed up with incomparable Russian protest art collective Pussy Riot to unleash an electrifying anthem “POWER”, which drives home the idea that women can take back any power that was ever taken from them. Inspired by her favorite movie Fight Club, the music video showcases an all-female cast of bright, young rising stars like phem, Chloe Chaidez and more fighting it out, highlighting the raw power of women. The video was directed and produced by Andrew Sandler and part of the team behind Machine Gun Kelly's Downfalls High, which Siiickbrain appeared in.
